Our Approach

A collaborative process for meaningful climate impact

We connect people, evidence and innovation through a practical five-step process that moves from understanding climate risks to learning, adaptation and scale.

How we work

Climate action begins with understanding

Our approach is designed to reduce assumptions, connect different forms of knowledge and keep the work focused on practical decisions and outcomes.

Our working philosophy

“We develop climate solutions with people, guided by evidence and improved through continuous learning.”

Each project may require a different combination of research, technology, communication and community participation. The five-step process provides a consistent foundation while remaining flexible enough to respond to local realities.

Step 1

Understand

We analyse climate risks, vulnerabilities and local contexts using data, research and stakeholder engagement.

Every adaptation journey begins with understanding the challenges people, ecosystems, and institutions face. We analyse the environmental, social, and economic factors that shape climate vulnerability to ensure that interventions address root causes rather than symptoms. This phase establishes the evidence base needed for informed decision-making.

Intended result

A clear understanding of climate risks, vulnerabilities, capacities, and adaptation priorities.

What happens at this stage

  • 01Listen to community and stakeholder priorities
  • 02Review existing climate information and research
  • 03Identify risks, vulnerabilities and opportunities
  • 04Clarify the decisions the work should support

Step 2

Design

We develop practical, evidence-based adaptation strategies and digital solutions.

Once risks have been identified, we work collaboratively with partners and communities to design adaptation strategies that respond to local realities. Our design process recognises that adaptation solutions must be technically sound, socially inclusive, economically viable, and environmentally sustainable.

Intended result

Tailored adaptation strategies and implementation plans that are informed by evidence and designed for long-term resilience.

What happens at this stage

  • 01Engage communities and partners to understand local priorities
  • 02Integrate climate evidence with local and technical knowledge
  • 03Co-design practical and inclusive adaptation strategies
  • 04Develop feasible implementation plans and digital solutions

Step 3

Implement

We transform climate knowledge into practical adaptation solutions that strengthen resilience.

We work with communities and relevant stakeholders to implement evidence-based adaptation solutions. Through capacity strengthening, technical support, and the application of innovative tools, we empower communities and institutions to take informed action and build resilience to climate change.

Intended result

Adaptation actions that improve resilience while strengthening local ownership and institutional capacity.

What happens at this stage

  • 01Co-design practical solutions with communities and intended users
  • 02Pilot and test adaptation approaches in real-world settings
  • 03Strengthen local and institutional capacity to apply solutions
  • 04Provide technical support and refine approaches through feedback and learning

Step 4

Learn and Improve

We monitor outcomes, evaluate impact and continuously refine solutions.

We monitor progress, assess results, and use evidence and experience to strengthen what works. Learning from implementation enables solutions to evolve with changing climate conditions and new evidence.

Intended result

Improved solutions, stronger evidence, and lessons that inform future adaptation action.

What happens at this stage

  • 01Monitor progress, outcomes and emerging challenges
  • 02Collect and assess evidence from implementation
  • 03Capture lessons and feedback from communities and stakeholders
  • 04Refine solutions and inform future adaptation action

Let's work together

Turn shared climate challenges into meaningful action.
